BEYOND SIXTH FORM

Qualifications in Textile Design are essential for students continuing their education with foundation placements at art college or university or as a first step to a textile based degree. It also allows Students to consider further education and employment in fields within fashion, design, costume and textile led industries.

Students explore textiles in both practical and contextual form. The subject lends itself to students from an art and textiles background. The course is workshop led introducing students to a variety of experiences with varying textile media, processes and techniques both traditional and new.

The visual elements are an essential part of visual identity, exploration of these within textiles allows for creativity and visual language to develop. Students produce practical and critical work that demonstrates their understanding of these within different styles, genres and traditions of art and textiles.

The course seeks to increase students’ imaginative and creative powers, alongside their analytical and research skills. Research does form an essential part of critical understanding, we enrich this with visits to local and London based art galleries, local artist led workshops and speakers.

We offer a friendly and relaxed and creative environment- Textiles is an exciting and creative option, offering the chance to consider elements of design within the environment we live today.
